Merry Christmas

It's been a hectic couple of weeks getting ready for the boys first Christmas. Rick and I argued over how many presents to get the boys. Since there's so many family and friends buying for them this year, and their birthday only 25 days after Christmas. Even limiting our purchases the boys made out with som many things that we're going to have to move out so we can have a playroom for just their toys!!

The boys have both had a cold this last week, which they kindly passed on to Me, Rick, Mom and Rick's Nephew and Niece. So we are all coughing and have sore throats, it's been a regular barrel of laughs over here. The Boys are doing great, they are sitting up by themselves and are eating baby foods, three times a day now. They both have their two bottom teeth in, so no more chewing on mom's fingers!!!

So Tired!!

We have been so busy lately! Rick and I sat down and talked some stuff out, and decided for the sake of my sanity and to help save money for a house of our own, we would move in with my mom.

He fought it kind of hard, since he feels he's less of a man for not providing a place for us by himself. I just had to point out, that he was doing that, but unless he got a second job, we would never get out of an apartment.

So the weeks have been busy trying to pack up our apartment and clean out moms house so we have room for all of us. She is going from a house with 2 cats and herself to: 3 Adults, 2 babies, 1 dog and 3 cats. It's going to be a busy, loud house, but we're all okay with that....wish us luck. :-)

We also got our first official family picture taken. THAT was a fun experience....I don't know who was more tired by the end of the day, the kids or Rick and I!

Hard Day this week...

So this past week has been really hard. Rick came down with a really bad cold on Tuesday night. So I decided to take the kids and spend the next few days at mom's house so me and the boys wouldn't be at risk for getting sick. Then at 5am on Thursday morning I woke up to Jonathan coughing and gasping for air. He was choking and could hardly breathe, so I took him into mom's room and called the doctor. They said it sounded like he had serious respiratory distress, so to get him to the ER, and if it got worse in the next few minutes that I should call an ambulance....way to calm me down right?

So I ended up in the ER at 530am with Rick and Me in the Triage Area and Mom and Michael in the waiting room. I felt SOOOOO bad for Jonathan. The poor little guy was short of tourtered!! The x-ray machine for infants is this Hannibal Lector like contraption that has a saddle like seat to sit them on with leg holes for their feet to hang through. Then this plastic incasing surrounds them holding their arms above their head and finally a leather strap to help support their head!! Then he got blood drawn which it took me, Rick and two nurses to hold him down. (Fight or flight instinct is amazing!) The RSV swab which they swab the inside of his nose which pissed him off too. So in the end....Jonathan has pneumonia and Michael has the cold that Jonathan had prior to it going into pneumonia!!! Poor guys!!! At least I got some new pics of them....

Things you don't know until you have a baby...

So its been a very sleepless week. The boys have been awake for 22 hours of everyday. Choosing to sleep at moments when I am UNABLE to sleep. Times such as when I'm feeding Jonathan, Michael will be sleeping and since I of course cannot sleep and feed my child at the same time, I am stuck gazing in envy at my son who sleeps so peacefully. So sitting here with both sons on my lap, trying rock them to sleep or at least until they are quiet I have come up with these things that you never experience until you become a mom....

1. You can go without sleep for days and live on coffee, soda and toast (since these things take only seconds to make or obtain)

2. Staying up for days at time is suddenly worth it when you get a smile from your child.

3. You WILL be pooped on, peed on, chewed on and spit up on, and sometimes all in the same feeding.

4. You can multitask with the best of them. (Holding a pacifier in their mouth, eating a meal and watching a movie on tv all at the same time is small potatoes)

5. All new mothers should invest in Kodak or Fuki Film Stock, since you are genetically unable to stop taking pictures of your offspring.

6. You wash so many bottles and dishes a day just to keep the kitchen in mildly good order, you are capable of developing blisters on your fingers!

7. Your husband becomes dumber after the birth of your children. Example: You've been awake all night, trying to take 15 minute naps on a lumpy couch, you've had a migraine since you went into labor with them....and he comes out to go to work, smiles at you and tells you HE'S tired!!! (It truly is a miracle that more husbands aren't killed in the weeks following the birth of children)

8. The amount of liquid/food you put in your baby....doesn't equal the amount of stuff that comes out of your baby.

9. Bouncers/Swings are life savers and should travel everywhere with your child!!

10. You will also spend just as much money on the bouncer/swing as you do on the batteries to keep the stupid thing going!

Even though I've discovered all these fun things, there isn't anything in the world that I would trade for those special moments with my kids. It's funny, here Rick and I have been preparing for babies...but they're so much more than that! They're kids...then teenagers....then adults...this motherhood thing will never end. (I should know that better than anyone being 26 and calling MY mom at least twice a day.) I can only smile and look forward to hearing them laugh, hearing them say "I Love You Mom", walking, running, playing, getting into trouble, kissing their scraps and bumps, kissing them good night, taking them to their first day of school, their first sports game, their first school play, sleepovers with their friends, swim parties and barbeques, halloween costumes and christmas dinners, their first report card, hearing about their first kiss, and their first Prom and Homecoming, their first time driving a car and getting their drivers license....finally leading up to them getting their first apartment!! :-) It's a long road, but I can't wait to see what other thing I learn from them about being a mom.

The boys progress

So the boys had a doctors appointment today. They each got four shots (two in each leg) and they were NOT happy about it! Rick and I just got them to sleep and it's 9:30pm. But the doctor is VERY happy with their progress. We were seeing her every week for weigh-ins and measurements, but she is so happy with their progress that she said we don't have to come back for two months!! Yeah!!!

They are growing up so fast!! (Sniff)

New Condo

So we are all moved in. We love the new place especially some of the amenities this property offers. We've got a Movie Theater, brand new stainless steel barbeques through out the property, tanning beds and a pool table. Not that we'll ever have time to use these things...I guess it's nice to know I can use them if I find the time.
We haven't unpacked everything, and theres the boys stuff scattered everywhere....so pictures on the new pad will have to come a bit later. After the boys doctors appointment on Thursday, I'll post new pictures and their new stats.

MOVING AGAIN!

So Rick, the kids and I are moving....again. This will be our 5th apartment together in less than 4 years. I'm so tired of moving....and even though I throw out more stuff each time, we always need an increasingly bigger U-Haul.
The reason for this move is because Rick got a promotion from Maintenance Tech to Supervisor. This will bump up his pay an additional $4.00 and hour....but we've been living rent free and now we have to pay rent. So it's good and bad...he gets the experience and title of Supervisor which will help with future jobs to come. Plus, he gets the higher pay scale which will help the transfers in the future stay at that higher rate. (Hopefully)
This just means that I'm extra stressed out now. I'm still adjusting to the little guys since they've been home for two weeks on Monday. But now I'm supposed to transfer all the services (Cox, APS etc), fill out change of address forms, pack up our apartment while still functioning at our old one with the kids and arrange the U-Haul and movers.
I guess in other words...beware when you call this week.....I may snap at you angrily while trying to coddle one of my crying kids, while trying to sit on a box and tape it shut at the same time!! :-)

So the boys are home! Twin Identical boys....and yes right now even I get confused. We have to be careful and stay aware of what they are wearing. (There are distingushing marks..but I'm not giving my hints away!)
Michael who was born at four pounds and one ounce, was weighed in on February 26 at a whopping seven pounds!
Jonathan who was born at four pounds and five ounces, was weighed in on February 26 at seven pounds and four ounces.
